How about that

Hey everyone, this is my first time blogging so please be gentle with me. After reading the Trailhead Church's staff blogs, they have all inspired me to blog . This blogging thing is pretty big I hear so I figured I'd give it a try.

So as I sit here at work in my nice swivel chair, yes I am at work right now blogging, I was just thinking about God's timing. It's pretty crazy how he has worked in my life. I was saved in the year 2000, the week after Easter Sunday in a church in the middle of nowhere in Salt Rock, WV. The church had performed their Easter play again for everyone and afterwards gave an altar call. As I stood looking around, my grandpa came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go to the altar, so with a tear in my eye and a frog in my throat I took my steps to the alter and gave my heart to God. The rest of the day was awesome and things were going great, but then Sunday ended and the week began.

That Monday was hard, I was a sophomore at Huntington High School and all my friends were not saved. Needless to say, I was sucked back in the world and like my Dyson sucks all the dirt off my floor. I was a big basketball player in school and a pretty big social guy to. I didn't drink or smoke or anything because I thought that was bad, but all the cuss words and foul language I used I guess was ok with me. I stopped going to church and spent my weekends staying up all night and sleeping all day. All I cared about was me.

Flash forward to June 1, 2002. Graduation Day! I had waited for this day for a long time. The plan after graduation was to go to Myrtle Beach and party it up. Make out with many girls and possibly other things. It was going to be the biggest week of sin I have ever done and I could not wait.

Now I know your like "Travis, why are you telling us this all this for? Just get to the point."
My point is, I turned my back on God but he never turned his back on me. The day after I got to Myrtle Beach I met a beautiful blond named Louwisa walking on the beach. We spent the rest of that week together, not doing anything bad but just hanging out with each other and making out a lot! Turned out she was from Charleston, WV, just 45 minutes from where I came from. We spent the next two years dating and then on September 4, 2004 we got married! We've had an awesome marriage. I thank God for her everyday because God put something so beautiful in my life and brought me back to him.

Since Louwisa and I have been married we have been going to Campus Flood, we were there for the the very first one! It's the place where we have met all of our awesome friends! We got to be part of the planning process for Trailhead Church and I was supposed to be the Super Awesome Youth Pastor.

So here we are, trying to sell our trailer and get a job in NC. Neither were going so well. For all of you who do not know, Louwisa and I have been trying for a kid for a couple years now. Anyway, everything with Trailhead Church was set and some of the staff and members had and were already moving down to NC. So one morning I hear Louwisa scream in the bathroom "TRAVIS, I'M PREGNANT!!" I wake up to the greatest words ever that we have waited so long for. Now, God not only blessed us with one baby, but TWO! We are having twins and they are expected to be here April 20th, 2009 if not before that date. So here I am, trying to get to NC and now realizing that I am going to be responsible for my wife and two children. Louwisa and I talked everyday for hours on what we should do, do we stay, or do we go to NC still? Finally one night I just prayed my heart out, I had no idea what to do and I told God I will do whatever he wants me to do but I need help on making this decision because it is a big one. I was like, just send Gresham and tell me what to do (Not in those exact words). I just realized this paragraph is huge, I should've started a new one a long time ago. (Sorry, ADD just kicked in, too much Mountain Dew) Anyway, I was shutting my store down so I could get lunch and I hear someone whistle for me. I look down the hallway and there is Josh Gresham. I had no idea he was in town. So, Josh and I talked for awhile and so here I am in West Virgina preparing for life with two kids at one time.

I know this was long, probably boring, pretty ADD also, and for that I apologize, but I feel like I needed to say all that. No matter how far you think you are from God, no matter if your back is turned from him, HE HAS NEVER GIVEN UP ON YOU! He still works in your life and most importantly HE STILL LOVES YOU! I've been to the dark side and I don't ever want to go back, that's why I hate talking about my past so much. It is truly amazing what happens to you when you give your life to God!
